Carly Rae Jepsen is a Canadian artist born on 21 November 1984 in British Columbia's Mission. As a child, Carly Rae began playing the piano. She was already in high-school when she started participating in talent competitions held locally. She attended The Canadian College of Performing Arts, in Victoria, British Columbia, following her graduation from high school. She made the top 3 in the year 2007. In 2007 she participated in the contest for Canadian Idol, the 5th season. The following year, she debuted her first album Tug of War in 2008. It was an instant success and reached the top spot in the Canadian Albums Chart. The singer released her follow-up album Kiss in 2012 which spawned the hit single Call Me Maybe. It was a global chart-topper, reaching the top of charts across 18 countries and sold over 15 million copies.
